Upskilling Australians for Clean Trades – Cities Power Partnership October Webinar

Wellington Shire Council is leading and driving initiatives to support the uptake of large-scale renewable energy projects across the Gippsland region in Victoria, however it’s essential that the local labour force is also becoming upskilled to facilitate this new energy transition. The Australian Renewables Academy is working alongside Wellington Shire Council and will outline the many challenges and opportunities associated with upskilling a local labour force.

Rapid and Least Cost Decarbonisation of Building Operations

ASBEC has released a Discussion Paper as a contribution to the ongoing national conversation about the critical role of the built environment in delivering Australia’s net zero emissions by 2050 target.

While there is widespread support among Australia’s largest property companies to decarbonise building operations and tackle climate change, more analysis and guidance is needed on the least-cost pathways to deliver on these ambitions across the sector.

Afternoon Tea Q&A with Paul Dainton from Greater Shepparton City Council

Greater Shepparton City Council declared a Climate Emergency and set a 2030 Zero Emissions Target in March of 2020. Since, a 2030 Zero Emissions Plan was adopted in December 2021 for Council’s corporate emissions, and more recently a Climate Emergency Action Plan was adopted in June 2022 for Council led climate action for the Community.

Special Edition Q&A Session: GreenPower Review – An open forum for councils 

GreenPower has been the obvious way for many councils to buy renewable energy. The National GreenPower Steering Group is currently conducting its first public review in seven years of the GreenPower Accreditation Program, giving local governments the chance to voice concerns and make suggestions to improve the program by way of making submissions. The deadline for submissions has now been extended until 5 September for Councils (22 August for general stakeholders).
