Benalla OLD
Is a Power Partner
Benalla Rural City’s capacity to adapt to potential changes in climate relies on planning and investing in changes to how we all live. Being prepared for climate change reduces our vulnerability and risk as a community.
We are committed to leading a healthy and resilient community, economy and environment. Being a member of the Cities Power Partnership provides the opportunity to learn, share and partner with other councils in the program to achieve this.
Council has selected the following climate pledges
Install renewable energy (solar PV and battery storage) on council buildings.
Adopt best practice energy efficiency measures across all council buildings, and support community facilities to adopt these measures.
Roll out energy efficient lighting across the municipality.
Set city-level renewable energy or emissions reduction targets.
Support the local community to develop capacity and skills to tackle climate change.
