What council has achieved in the past in energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable transport or broader sustainability
The City has been acting on climate change over a number of years and adopted a Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan in 2015. To date 142KW of solar panels have been installed on 4 Council facilities with further projects planned. Real time monitoring, LED lighting and solar hot water systems have also been installed in Council buildings. In addition the City has commenced an annual street tree planting program in residential areas with the least urban canopy to mitigate the urban heat island effect. The City works with the Community through our participation in the Switch Your Thinking Program which offers discounts on sustainable products as well as workshops and programs for the community.

The City would like to continue to work towards our climate change mitigation and adaptation goals. We intend to do this by expanding on the above activities, particularly the solar panel and street tree planting programs. The City is currently reviewing our Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan and will incorporate ideas from the CPP pledges into this plan.
What council hopes to gain from being a member of the Cities Power Partnership
The City is looking forward to the opportunity to promote and gain broader recognition for our work as well as the support and networking between local governments.
