The Climate Council and Cities Power Partnership’s new report released on 22 September 2021, Neighbourhood issue: climate costs and risks for councils, unpacks climate change impacts, challenges and risks Australian councils are facing.
Join us for a special briefing that will cover the report’s key findings that every council in Australia must be across, including:
- why climate change is an immense challenge for all levels of government, but its impacts are felt most acutely at the local level
- how worsening extreme weather, driven by climate change, is compounding costs for councils. This includes mounting damage to council-owned assets, rising insurance premiums and increasing liability risks

- Morgan Koegel is a Senior Campaigner with the Climate Council. With an Arts (BA) and Law (JD) degrees from the University of Melbourne, Morgan’s entire career has been in the not-for-profit space including as the CEO of Engage Education, CEO of One Girl and General Manager of 3000acres. At Climate Council, Morgan has worked on the Emergency Leaders for Climate Action campaign with 33 former senior fire and emergency service leaders united in their calls about increasingly intense and frequent extreme weather events.
