National governments are facing a triple challenge: ensuring a successful recovery from COVID-19, pushing forward their longer-term vision for development, and addressing the enormous threats posed by climate change. As economic engines and population hubs, cities should be at the centre of national recovery strategies and long-term visions post-COVID.
This report focuses on six major emerging economies that together account for a third of global GDP – China, India, Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa – to explore the extent to which they can unleash the power of cities to catalyse sustainable, inclusive and resilient growth.
