Energy Consumers Australia is an independent organisation created by the Council of Australian Governments to give residential and small business energy consumers a national voice in the energy market. The organisation conducts research and analysis, identifies issues and works with other consumer organisations, ombudsmen, energy companies, regulators and governments to improve outcomes for consumers. The organisation offers a grants program that has a particular focus on building knowledge and capacity to support energy policy development that will benefit the long term interests of consumers. This program could support project ideas of councils to pursue capacity building and advocacy efforts.
