CPP July Webinar: The future is now – community batteries as a climate change response

Join us on Tuesday the 26th of July at 2:00pm AEST as we hear from the City of Yarra and the Yarra Energy Foundation take us through the key learnings, barriers and solutions of the implementation journey of the recently launched community battery in the City of Yarra. Our presenters will discuss how community batteries support Council’s climate change goals and commitments, their role in the process and moving forward, as well as other key energy innovation and transformation initiatives that Council is supporting.

  • The prospects for scale and replicability And the role for local governments in supporting a community battery

Indy Lingam, Sustainable Energy Coordinator, City of Yarra
With more than 15 years’ experience working in and with Local Government to support improved energy and greenhouse emissions outcomes, Indy currently manages the Sustainable Energy Team at Yarra City Council. Indy’s team leads on the technical aspects of energy management, innovation and transformation. Indy previously worked in the Sustainability teams at Darebin and Manningham City Councils.

Timothy Shue, Chief Operating Officer, Yarra Energy Foundation
Tim is the Chief Operating Officer for the Yarra Energy Foundation, a Melbourne-based not-for-profit driving scalable and replicable community energy solutions for a net-zero future. Tim has worked for several years at the nexus of local government, climate, and communications with local, national and international not-for-profits. He completed a master of environment in sustainable cities and is a board member for not-for-profit organisation, Our Future Cities, creating spaces for interdisciplinary collaboration for students and graduates.
