Climate Summit for Local Government

Held on Thursday, April 29 at 2pm AEST. We heard from Hepburn council and community experts about their experience implementing successful projects across the community to help achieve their net zero community target.

Presenters were:

  • Manny Pasqualini, Sustainability Officer at Hepburn Shire Council. Over the past 15 years Manny has worked on diverse projects across the sustainability field including conservation, climate, water and environmental management projects in Europe, Latin America and Australia. Since returning to Australia in 2009, Manny has supported the emerging community energy and zero emissions movements through his professional and personal life as a Director with Community Power Agency, and a founding member of the Coalition for Community Energy.  Most recently Manny led the Zero Carbon Programs team at the Australian Energy Foundation (previously Moreland Energy Foundation), specialising in energy innovation research and program delivery with high levels of community benefit.
  • Taryn Lane, General Manager of Hepburn Wind. Taryn is also a researcher for UNSW on Just Climate Transitions. Taryn led the development of Hepburn Z-NET which won the Premiers Sustainability Award in 2019, and is a member of the current Z-NET Roundtable. She is a Founding Director of RE-Alliance and the Coalition for Community Energy, as well as a 2017 Winston Churchill Fellow.
