When did the Cities Power Partnership launch?

The Cities Power Partnership launched nationally on the 19th of July in Canberra, with mayors coming together from around the country.

The first round of the Cities Power Partnership was oversubscribed with 35 councils from across Australia signed up. The second round of the partnership closed in December 2017 and a further 35 councils joining.

Round 3 will open from March 2018

Is the Cities Power Partnership free?

Yes, it’s free to join the partnership.

How is the Cities Power Partnership funded?

The Climate Council is a not-for-profit organisation, the Cities Power Partnership is funded through the generous donations of everyday Australians and a small group of philanthropists.

Can I nominate my town or city to be part of the Cities Power Partnership?

Yes. Head to the “nominate your community” section of the website to do just that.

My local council wants to sign up to the Cities Power Partnership- what do I need to do?

That’s great to hear! Signing up is straight forward. Just email the team at [email protected] and let us know that your council would like to join. If we still have places available, we’ll send you additional information about the program as well as a template joining letter and a draft council motion to help get you started.

Please note that rounds one and two of the partnership are now closed. Round three will be opening in March 2018.

I’m part of a community energy organisation, how can my organisation get involved?

We would love for you to be involved. The Cities Power Partnership wants to profile and connect community energy groups with councils involved in the partnership. This connection is vital to help councils achieve success as community energy groups and the community more broadly can provide on-the ground support, including workshops and modelling, to help councils achieve their energy and sustainability commitments.

My company is interested in providing incentives to help councils involved in the Cities Power Partnership achieve their energy and sustainability goals. How can I find out more?

It would be great to hear from you. Email your inquiry to [email protected]

My town or city is already leading in renewable energy and sustainability, what does my city get out of joining the partnership?

Cities leading the way play an essential role in the partnership. They will share their knowledge with other cities, their successes will be celebrated to an audience of millions to inspire others and they will have access to resources and incentives to help them to continue to lead.
