Afternoon Tea Q&A: Impact of Carbon Neutrality on City of Parramatta’s GHG Emissions

14 Sep 2023
3:00pm - 3:30pm
Join us on Zoom

Join us for afternoon tea at 3pm AEST Thursday 14th September as we hear from the City of Parramatta as they discuss the journey towards their recent carbon neutral certification and the impact on their GHG emissions.

Background.

In 2021 Council commenced the Carbon Neutrality process and was officially certified by Climate Active in May 2023; for both the Organisation and Services within the Parramatta Square public domain. You’ll be hearing about how the City of Parramatta’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy (ESS, 2017) specifies a number of goals including:

  • Carbon neutral by 2022 (projected for FY23), and
  • 60% emissions reduction by 2038

You’ll also be learning about:

  • How the process was guided by consultants 100% Renewables
  • How the Net Zero & Emissions Reduction Strategy was produced
  • How Executive sign off of these commitments was essential to providing an emissions reduction pathway that focussed on lowering carbon offset costs and dependence over time.

Our Afternoon Tea Q&As run for half an hour, every second Thursday at 3pm AEST. We’d love for our member councils to join us!
